Electrical Safety Specialists offers NFPA 70E training in Kansas City and across the United States. Our introductory course covers the complex standards and regulations per OSHA and NFPA 70E, and the latest in OSHA’s enforcement direction of arc flash training. NFPA 70E Training is offered in 4 and 8 hour classes.
After an initial introduction to NFPA 70E standards and intent, we discuss positive electrical safety culture in depth. We cover general requirements for electrical safety related work practices as well as host and contract employer responsibilities. All NFPA 70E training requirements are covered, including creation of Electrically Safe Work Condition(ESWC), release of victims, and qualified persons.
The shock hazard portion of our NFPA 70E course discusses shock boundaries, shock protection, and requirements for shock hazard analysis. We instruct on when insulated tools and equipment are necessary as well as the adequacy of V-rated tools, V-rated gloves, and testing requirements. We then provide a hands on field testing demonstration.
NFPA 70E training from ESS covers meter safety including the dynamics of arc flash/blast, hazard risk assessments, incident energy, arc flash protection boundary, and effects on people. We discuss Article 120 establishing electrically safe work conditions (ESWC) at length, including lockout tagout principals, procedures, and responsibility. We give examples of ESWC and working within the Limited and Restricted approach boundaries.
Personal protective equipment (electrical PPE) is a crucial component of NFPA 70E training. We discuss who is responsible, care and maintenance, outer and under layer, and give ATPV (arc thermal performance value) and HRC category electrical PPE examples.
Hazardous electrical energy control procedures including simple, complex, and equipment Lockout/Tagout are covered. We also instruct on arc flash and shock hazard labeling requirements. Once the training is complete, we administer a written examination to ensure understanding of the course material.
